ELECTRICITY Department Targets 94 % Villages Electrified by 2010 RABU, 11 MARET 2009 16 :00 WIB The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources have raised the target ratio of electrified villages up to 98 % in the strategic planning for 2010 – 2014. The Directorate General of Electricity and Energy Utilization have set several targets for 2010 , among whih is to increase the ratio of electrified villages up to 94 %. To reach this target, the Director General of Electricity and Energy Utilization have focused on rural electricity development, which is concentrated mainly outside Java, Madura, and Bali. Currently several areas are yet to be electrified. The 2010 rural electricity development is supported by a 2. 540 kW micro hydro power plant, 4.805 kWp scattered solar power plant, and a 30 kW centralized solar power plant. Electricity distribution block development number 958 units or equivalent to 53.900 kVA, medium power grid at 3.190 Km and low power grid at 2. 905 Km. To further increase the usage of renewable energy, the Directorate General of Electricity and Energy Utilization will review the potential of primary energy sources for power plants. Renewable energy power plants such as micro-hydro, wind power, and solar power for rural areas will also be supported by the development of self sufficient villages and a renewable energy clearing house.
